• HELLO 2011!
It’s 2011! Crazy. And I don’t have a flying car yet. The injustice of it all.

Last year ended with onething 2010, with more than 20,000 coming to KC to seek Jesus. Our editing team at IHOP-KC worked hard through December and put together a lot of sweet videos. It definitely would’ve been a much harder month without the latest additions to our team.

I worked on three promos that showed at the conference. They are posted here for your viewing enjoyment.

  • 2010 was another successful year of reading! I read a good spattering of genres, including fiction, history, and instructional. I learned a ton, and hopefully a lot of it will make its way into my writing; I know the history books will. And that’s why writers need to read: to get ideas, to learn about how people relate to each other, and to accustom ourselves to good writing. (A case can also be made for reading the occasional bad book as well.)

I thought I’d share the list with you—not in order to say how great I am, but to inspire you to read more and give you some book ideas. I have a full-time job and life just like anyone else, but you can find time to read if you try.

  • THE TERRORS OF CRASHING
Our team of editors at IHOP-KC have been working in go-mode for the past couple weeks. onething 2010, IHOP-KC’S annual youth conference, starts next week, with (at least) 20,000 people in attendance.

Needless to say, we’ve been working a lot.

Because of this, our computers are going harder than they have in months. I’ve been at my workstation for… oh, going on 12 hours today. After working for that long on pretty intense projects (animating in After Effects and using Magic Bullet Looks in Final Cut), my computer gets tired. And when it gets tired, things start crashing.

  • The promo for the Joy album is nearing completion! I spent yesterday designing the graphics—or rather, I spent the day figuring out how to integrate the live footage with the CD artwork from the marketing department of IHOP-KC had designed. It took a little while, but eventually I came up with a good coloring and texture overlay that I applied to all of the footage.

Following up from my recent post about Color Correcting & Grading, here are a few screenshots of a shot that was corrected and then graded.

  • My current editing project at IHOP-KC is the promo for the new album from Forerunner Music, JOY. It’s a great album and captures the songs that have come out of the IHOPU Student Awakening. Yesterday I put together the radio edit (a basic edit of the voice over and music-ups), and today I sat down to work on the graphics.
